Boating on the Periyar Lake which is situated within the national park, is one main attractions in Thekkady. It offers visitors a unique opportunity to enjoy the serene surroundings and potentially spot wildlife along the banks of the lake. 

The main highlight of the boating experience is the chance to see various animals, especially elephants, coming to the water's edge to drink and play. Apart from elephants, you might also spot other animals such as deer, bison, and various bird species.



How to get tickets: There are regular Boat service conducted by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation and Kerala Forest Department. You can book your tickets online through below link

Tips for you:

1.      Try to Book 7.30 to 9.00 AM slot to increase chances of wildlife sightings.

2.      National Park Entry & bus charges will be extra

3.      If you Missed to get an online booking, the best way to get a seat is to book a stay at Bamboo grove cottage (Operated by Kerala Forest Department). They will arrange a ticket for you.

It's important to note that the availability of wildlife sightings can vary, and seeing animals is not guaranteed. Also, since Thekkady is a popular tourist destination, it's advisable to book your boating tickets and stays in advance, especially during peak season.
